Craig Webb's Algoma River Railroad
Craig and and his long time friend Chuck Bard created this video in 2002, documenting a day on the On3 Algoma River Railroad in Craig's basement. With a Northern Ontario theme and set in the 1920s, the narrow gauge line served mining and tourism in the area, connecting Lake Nameigos with the standard gauge connection to the outside world at Algoma City. Full of atmosphere with added sound effects and piano by Chuck Bard, it conjures a place where we'd all like to spend time watching the trains and enjoying the summer weather.
The railway was dismantled in late 2020, having been an inspiration to many in its detail, full operations scheduling, and evocative story.

Beyond Recall
I don't read a lot of spy thrillers, but recently finished Gerald Seymour's spy thriller “Beyond Recall”, and after reading the last pages moved over to the piano and found this theme, based on the main character’s fragility, but also an inner strength and depth which goes unrecognized most of his life. There are threads of leaving a place of safety, landscapes where the sun shines at midnight,...
The St Jacob's and Aberfoyle Model Railway
December 10 and 11, 2023 was the last weekend for the O scale St. Jacob's and Aberfoyle, due to losing their current location - then the layout will be dismantled and stored until a new venue is found. Having its start at the Aberfoyle Flea Market in the upstairs of a barn in 1972, it spent many years in a large Quonset building across the road from there before moving to St. Jacob's in 2013.. ...

the Ontario Narrow Gauge Show 2023

We're very pleased to give you a look at our re-invented Narrow Gauge Show - in 2020 the show was to move to the Hamilton Steam Museum, after many years at Schomberg. In fact, it was generally known as simply "The Shomberg Show", but of course a few years went by before the move became a reality. A few wrinkles to be ironed out for sure, but we managed to have an excellent day of narrow-gauge i...

The Village Fund is a grant program for musicians and others in the music world having a hard time financially - administered by the Folk Alliance International, Pete Seeger's birthday is the day to post a video of a folk song to spread the word. That's today, and this is a song I remember from “Birds, Beasts, Bugs and Fishes”, one of his children's albums - there are lot of verses when you dig...

Melting. Water in its liquid state. Even some snowdrops. I know, it's only February but the signs are there today - a good time to put some visuals to this piece of music. Slow. As slow as I can go. This was conceived at the piano looking at tiny snowflakes coming down, everything minimal but still alive, rising and falling.

The Great Train Robbery, a true story

Adapted from a story by Bill Toothman, who lived along the Ohio Rover and Western narrow gauge. Thanks to Bill Logan for the connection! It's hard to imagine this taking place in today's work environment - it all seems part of the idyllic vision of rural life we all value. Mozart Rondo K15 for mandolin and Hofner bass
Warm as a blanket. Soft as a pillow. Mellow as a nice cuppuh tea. Happy to come across this now and again. Soothing and wise. Familiar as a seldom seen longtime friend. A feeling like Hey! Hi!
That was quite the journey. Really cool bro. Liked how it turns to night. Good job. Endless hours of detail work. Thank you.
What a display of ingenuity, craftsmanship and artistry. Really creates a world that you feel right a home in, almost forgetting, at times, it's a model train layout.. Thanks for sharing.
7:13 - Warning to standard gauge crews. Nice touch. All round excellent railroad.
Very nice. I like the old trains.
Scenery, rolling stock, layout, operations... all 110% Outstanding.
Simply excellent... the layout a labour of love, and the video tops!
Love everything about this video..especially the through the window shots..
Great layout, great video. Does the layout still exist?
A beautiful layout. The scenery, buildings trains, and details are all outstanding. Enjoyed it very much. Great job.
Thanks for sharing this. Great video. Great layout!
Great vidio, love the layout nabour .Thanks for the morning coffee...
Now this is how to present a model train video. Show a peaceful world, with everything functioning as it ought to, in our amazing, inimitable North American setting that - if we're honest - everyone wishes they had. This video is extra special to me because it features "New World Symphony" by Antonin Dvorak. As a proud, second-generation Czech of the New World, I thought of returning to the country of my forebears but decided against it, in part because beautiful countryside that this model train is successfully imitating is simply not to be had anywhere else and I love it here. As a result, I love all homages to our land, be they musical, filmic, or model railroads. All are to be savored and their creators are to be held in high esteem. Thank you for sharing this.
David...is this the video you will presenting during tomorrow (3/12/24)nights "Off the Beaten Track NNG" Zoom meeting.?

No, videos don't fare well over Zoom, but I have an extensive photo powerpoint covering the line. I'll narrate the slides in our usual fashion - discussion and chat questions afterward. I'll also provide a link to this at the end.
Well put together presentation. Excellent modeling.
This nice piece kseps appearing now and then on RUclips and that's nice because I enjoy hearing it now and then, again.
Did this used to be known as the Aberfoyle Junction?
Just like home
The work of some very talented modelers .
Massive!

A brochure would have been more informative.

It's a kit from a while back, not made any more, unfortunately. Quite difficult, I might add, being etched brass with some white metal and brass cast parts. Luckily much of the assembly was done when I acquired it! But I did the mods, DCC and paint - it's not quite finished.

This is great. Thanks!
Lovely. Also: 乒乓
Love it! Nice recipe and nice result!
